Animal!"

Carnival 2008 will have the first school of total ecological theme
Stuffs from animal origin will be substituted by ornaments made with
recycled material
The Animal Tribune and the Yard of San Francisco - two great animals
protection organizations- had joined to the Society School of Samba
Emperor of the Ipiranga, in São Paulo - Brazil to promote a
carnival in benefit of the environment.
It will have none ornaments made from animal origin. Pens and plumes
that traditionally compose the fancies will be substituted by
alternative materials, ornaments produced with recycled articles. The
Emperor of the Ipiranga will be the first school of samba of the Country
to promote a total ecological carnival. Other clubs already had taken
this initiative, however, they had only placed this practice in some
sections.
With the plot “The Salvation of the Planet is Animal”, the ecological
carnival of the Emperor of the Ipiranga has as proposal to make alert
against the aggressions and bad-treatments to the animals. Moreover, it
will call the Brazil and world attention for the nature preservation
necessity. The idea is to prove that it is possible to transmit these
messages and at the same time to shine in the biggest popular party of
the Country.
“The objective is to divulge the animal protection in the world. We go
to speak, for example, of circus with animals, global heating, rodeos,
the use of skins, domestic animals esterilization and responsible
ownership to raise a quarrel”, affirms Altina Mabellini, president of
the Animal Tribune. For it, the ecological carnival also will be a
chance to promote a cultural change.
In accordance with Altina, when showing that it is possible to make very
pretty and spacial event in the avenue without the use of pens and
plumes, the Emperor of the Ipiranga goes will be an example for the
other schools. The Animal Tribune president believes that the two
thousand people who will raise this flag in the parade will order the
message that the carnival enchantment can be kept with the use of
alternative ornaments.
The carnavalescos of the Emperor of the Ipiranga work in sped up rhythm
to produce, for example, synthetic plumes with fabric, mounted ornaments
in PVC and allegoric cars with PET bottles. The fancies are ready and
